The Deposits Fund of Churches of Christ in New South Wales has existed since 1965 to provide financial assistance to local Churches of Christ and the Ministries of Conference.

The Fund uses money deposited by individuals, churches and Ministry Teams to lend to churches for building projects at terms generally more favourable than those available commercially. Loans are also made to Ministers to help them buy vehicles and homes.

Depositors are free to place money on deposit at no interest or at any rate of interest up to the current determined rate (until 31st January 2012: 5%pa; from 1st February 2012 4.5%pa). Depositors can have the interest earned on a Deposit (or part of it) paid to a Church's loan account to reduce the Church's interest payments.

The Fund currently has over $6 million in loans outstanding to more than 20 NSW Churches and Ministers.

Disclaimer: Investors should be aware that this charitable scheme is not subject to the normal requirements under the Corporations Law to have a Disclosure Statement and be registered or have a trust deed; and the scheme has not been examined nor approved by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission; and neither the Trust nor the scheme has been approved or examined by ASIC and neither the Trust nor the scheme is prudentially supervised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority; and is exempt from the Corporations Act 2001. Contributions to the Fund do not obtain the benefit of the depositor protection provisions of the Banking Act 1959 as the investment is designed for investors who wish to promote the charitable purposes of the Trust and for whom the considerations of profit are not of primary relevance in the investment decision.
